Happy New Year! Two weeks ago the year began, and I think it’s time I posted my resolutions and goals for 2019!

To me, goals and resolutions are not quite the same, though they can overlap. Goals are more like objectives, tasks to accomplish, milestones to pass. Resolutions are more like aspects of your life you intend to continually improve.

GOALS

  1. Practice one of my hobbies for at least 1000 hours.

  2. Create a wiki or database.

  3. Learn to play 10 new pieces of music on the recorder.

  4. Post one of my stories to the internet.

  5. Win at Camp NaNoWriMo in April or July.

RESOLUTIONS

  1. Get up by 7 A.M. and go to bed by 10 P.M. every day except for weekends and holidays.

  2. Do not browse the internet for more than 24 hours per week.

  3. Strive for over half of the books or articles I read, the audiobooks or radio broadcasts I listen to, and the films or TV shows I watch, to be in a foreign language.

  4. Never eat sugar or highly processed foods more than once a week.

  5. Leave comments, reviews, and feedback more often.

Last year I learned of an interesting tip, don’t just set yearly goals, set quarterly or monthly goals as well. So I have those listed below!

January

  • Begin researching the ins and outs of buying and selling a house.

  • Take my cat and dog to the vet.

  • Memorize the Arabic alphabet.

  • Watch the Egyptian Arabic language series Secret of the Nile on Netflix.

Quarterly (Jan-Feb-Mar)

  • Make an inventory of every item I own

  • Write out the words and phrases in Egyptian Arabic: A Rough Guide Phrasebook.

  • Scan and make copies of all our old family photos.

  • Donate 12 boxes of stuff to Goodwill.

  • Reorganize and back up all my digital files and bookmarks.
